My Reiki Journey... a Journey of a Lifetime...
Buddy, my "Reiki buddy"
Reiki first came into my life while attending a yoga class. My yoga instructor and my future Reiki teacher described it as a method of placing your hands on a person and allowing energy to flow through the practitioner to the client. While I have always been open to alternative methods of healing, I still was not sure what that really meant. How could energy come through the Reiki practitioner and bring me 'healing'? After only one treatment, I realized how amazing Reiki is and how much I wanted it part of my life. It was literally a life changing experience for me even if I did not realize how life changing at the time.
I realized Reiki was something truly amazing was when my dog Buddy received a Reiki treatment. He was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and while we exhausted all aid conventional medicine could offer, he was unfortunately dying from the disease. I asked my Reiki teacher to come and give him a treatment in my home. Buddy knew nothing of Reiki, he did not ask any questions nor argue how it could not possibly work. He simply laid down as my teacher placed her hands on him. He laid in the same position for over an hour and a half. Afterward, he had more energy, was eating better and appeared to be more of his 'old' self. But I believe Reiki worked deeper for Buddy and myself that day. Soon, I became aware of alternative methods of treatments for him in addition to the conventional medicine. We continued to offer him Reiki to support his 'healing'. To be honest the veterinarian and myself really did not know if any of this was truly helping or making a difference. We saw improvement in Buddy's health. He had increased energy and was eating more. After two weeks of receiving Reiki and holistic supplements, the tests came back showing a healthy platelet count. It was then that we realized Reiki in addition to everything else was making a huge difference in his recovery. Reiki was supporting his healing. It was helping Buddy to allow his body to heal. Buddy lived four more years after that. Many dogs do not survive what he went through. I knew deep down that Reiki had played a role in his improved health and was integral in saving his life.

Why I love working with People
We each come to Reiki for different reasons. Some people are curious about what Reiki is or maybe they want to see if Reiki can help a friend. Others have chronic pain or depression and have tried everything conventional but feel drawn to try alternative healing methods. I love watching people embark on their Reiki journey. For some one session restores their body back to balance for others the first session is just the beginning of healing the many layers they need to be whole again. It is seeing the healing and peace that comes over my clients that brings me joy. In addition to Reiki, I use intuitive guidance to assist my clients. The information I receive serves as a guide to help them down their path. If I can play a part in helping someone find happiness and peace in their life that means the world to me.
Reiki Training and Lineage
In the winter of 2007, I was trained and attuned to Reiki Level I and later in the year I was trained and attuned to Reiki Level II. In 2011, I completed my training as a Reiki Master. I am now certified to train and attune others in Reiki. My philosophy as a teacher is what has been passed down to me. Reiki training is not be rushed, made virtual over the web or any other means to 'speed up' the process. Reiki is a deeply spiritual and sacred practice when you allow it to become part of your life. I believe Reiki should be taught in that manner and will continue to follow that tradition. My Reiki Lineage: I am an Usui Reiki Master trained by Dorian Abel who has been trained by Amy Rowland. She was trained by Beth Gray who was trained by Mrs. Hawayo Takata who originally brought Reiki to the West. This lineage is very important to me as Mrs. Takata was the first to bring Reiki to the West. She learned from Dr. Hayashi who was trained by Dr. Usui. Dr. Usui discovered Reiki in the early 1920's and is responsible for training others in the Usui Reiki tradition.
- 2011, I completed the Animal Reiki: Core Curriculum course and Equine teleclass with Kathleen Prasad, Animal Reiki Teacher.
- May 2012 - completed Intuition and Reiki Workshop with Amy Rowland
